The use of natural spaces—populated by “control groups” of living, breathing organisms—as settings for this type of experimentation leaves me speechless. With fear, or anger, I’m not sure which, but the world is now a laboratory for those with the means to exploit it, and that is the stuff of nightmares. For a disturbing majority of ignorance-is-bliss-citizens, the potential benefits outweigh the catastrophic consequences, and we won’t know which we’re getting until it’s too late to turn tail and head for the hills.
